Bring the silly interruptions from Interrupting Chicken to life with this fun, hands-on story-matching activity!

In this no-prep read-aloud companion, students read familiar fairy tales and classic stories that stop at an important moment. Then Little Red Chicken jumps into the story with an interruption—but which story does each interruption belong to?

Students use clues from each interruption to match the ripped-page pieces to the correct story. Once they find a match, the torn edges fit together like puzzle pieces, giving students a fun way to check their answers!

📚 WHAT'S INCLUDED:
• 12 familiar fairy tale and classic story matches
• Story pages with an important moment left unfinished
• Matching "ripped-page" interruption pieces
• Teacher directions
• Discussion and extension questions
• Ideas for creating a reusable literacy center

📖 STORIES INCLUDED:
• Goldilocks and the Three Bears
• Cinderella
• Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
• The Little Mermaid

✂️ HOW IT WORKS:
Print the story pages and loose interruption pieces. Cut apart the pieces and mix them up. Students read each story, look for clues in Little Red Chicken's interruption, and decide which story the interruption belongs to. They then place the piece at the bottom of the matching story and check that the ripped edges fit together.

For a reusable center, print on cardstock and/or laminate the pieces. Students can match, check, separate, and repeat!

💡 EXTEND THE LEARNING:
After completing the matches, discuss:
• What clues helped you make each match?
• What was happening when Little Red Chicken interrupted?
• Why did she feel the need to interrupt?
• What might have happened if she hadn't interrupted?

This activity also provides a natural opportunity to discuss the message of Interrupting Chicken and when it is appropriate to listen and when it is time to speak.

✨ A playful way to add comprehension, story clues, familiar tales, and hands-on learning to your Interrupting Chicken read-aloud!
