Trick or Treat: Mindset Edition | Halloween SEL Craftivity | Positive Self-Talk
Trick or Treat: Mindset Edition | Halloween SEL Craftivity
Turn Halloween fun into a meaningful lesson about negative self-talk, positive thinking, and growth mindset with this hands-on Trick or Treat Mindset craftivity!
Students will explore how their brains can sometimes “trick” them with negative or defeating thoughts such as “I can’t do this” or “I’m not smart enough.” They’ll then flip the script by transforming those thoughts into kinder, more realistic “treats.”
🍭 How It Works
Students create double-sided paper candies:
🎃 TRICK! – Students write a negative, harsh, or defeating thought that sometimes pops into their heads.
🍬 TREAT! – Students flip the candy over and write a more positive, realistic, and kind way to reframe that thought.
The activity encourages students to consider what they would say to a best friend who was having the same thought.
Students can then store their completed mindset candies in a decorated “Trick or Treat” bag or “Sweet Mindset Candy Bowl” and revisit them whenever they need a quick mindset boost.
